What is a Shipment?
A shipment is composed of two elements:
- the order items
- the tracking details such as the carrier name and the tracking number
Manage the set of rules that define the shipping rates and conditions that will be displayed to your customer during checkout.
In order for sellers to configure their shipping rates, the operator must first establish shipping zones, carriers, and delivery methods, enabling sellers to create shipping rates.
About Delivery Methods
A delivery method is the delivery speed that buyers can choose from at checkout. Delivery methods can also determine how quickly a buyer will receive their products.
About Shipping Zones
A shipping zone is a geographic region where a certain set of shipping methods are offered. Buyers will get matched to a single zone using their shipping address and will be presented with the shipping methods within that zone. You can assign or have your sellers define the different shipping methods for each of the zones they ship to and calculate the shipping rate based on the rules they specify.
About Shipping Carriers
Operators define the list of shipping carriers that sellers can use.
Shipping Carriers are companies that deliver cargo and packages. In the context of eCommerce, carriers deliver orders to buyers.
Configuring Multiple Shipments
Shipping rates are a set of rules that define the shipping options and conditions that will be displayed to the buyer at checkout. Shipping conditions include the information sellers have configured for delivery time frames and additional conditions based on the total value or total weight of the buyer's order.
The multiple shipments feature allows your sellers to ship the items of an order through several shipments. This is convenient when:
- order items do not fit in one package
- different carriers are used to ship different types of products
In the cases above tracking details and shipping dates can differ.
